Mahathir supports ‘Nuclear-Free World’ campaign

Representatives of the Japan Council against A & H Bombs (Japan Gensuikyo) and the Japan Confederation of the A & H Bomb Sufferers Organizations (Nihon Hidankyo) visited Kuala Lumpur and met with former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and received his signature in support of the ongoing campaign “For a Nuclear-Free World”

Shii on Obama inauguration

In a published comment on the inauguration of the new U.S. president, Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo stated: “We will attentively look to the type of change President Obama might pursue in implementing domestic and foreign policies. Regarding Japan-U.S. relations, we would like to draw the new U.S. administration’s attention to the urgent need to replace the present relationship of domination and subservience with one based on equal rights.”

Sending SDF to Somalia on ‘anti-piracy mission’ is unjustifiable

Prime Minister Aso Taro wants to send SDF warships to Somalia and pave the way for new legislation to allow the SDF to take part in defending foreign ships and use force, if necessary. It is outrageous for the government to cling to the SDF dispatch plan.
