The Japanese Communist Party will convene its 29th Congress from January 15 to January 18 next year.

This was unanimously approved as proposed by the JCP 9th Central Committee Plenum on October 5 and October 6 held at the JCP head office.

The 9th CC Plenum took place with the attendance of 176 CC members and 24 quasi-CC members. In the 2-day discussion session, 52 members took part. A total of 27,455 people watched the Plenum online in real time. The videotaped Plenum gathered over 32,000 views on YouTube, as of October 9, and the Central Committee received 439 comments from members throughout the country.

The 9th CC Plenum affirmed the commitment to create partywide movements to make a success of the 29th JCP Congress, win a major advance in the upcoming general election and bring in more young members. The 9th CC Plenum reaffirmed that the entire party continues to work for a 30% increase in party strength.
