January 10, 2009
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on January 9 attended a New Year reception hosted by the Korean Residents Union in Japan (Mindan) Central Headquarter in Tokyo.

Concerning foreigners’ right to vote in local elections, Shii promised to make an effort for the earliest possible enactment of a new law, saying, “The JCP has been calling not only for electoral suffrage for permanent foreign residents but also their right to stand in elections.”
