JCP urges LDP to set up question-time session with JCP

October 16, 2008
The Japanese Communist Party on October 15 demanded that the Liberal Democratic Party secure an opportunity for the JCP to take part in the one-on-one debate with the prime minister in the Diet.

Pointing out that the debate will be an important occasion to publicly make clear several points at issue, JCP Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi told LDP Secretary General Hosoda Hiroyuki that the JCP will support the LDP’s proposal for holding a one-on-one debate on October 22.

Hosoda replied, “We will call for a chance for smaller parties to participate in one-one-one debates” and promised that the party would ask its junior coalition partner, the Komei Party, to make an effort to ensure that smaller parties are given a chance to take part in the one-one-one debates.
