Shii talks with Cuban ambassador

February 25, 2010
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on February 24 had a dinner meeting with Cuban Ambassador to Japan Jose Fernandez de Cossio in Tokyo.

The ambassador explained that he had attended the Summit of Latin American and Caribbean Unity held on February 22 and 23 in Mexico and that it was a historic forum in which all Latin American countries, including Cuba, were present without the presence of the United States.

Shii thanked the ambassador for attending the JCP 25th Congress held last month and stated that the JCP is paying special attention to the democratic changes spreading across Central and South America.

They also talked about the ongoing political situation in Japan and expressed their hope for the further development of relations between the JCP and the Communist Party of Cuba.
