Shii meets ex-Nepalese PM
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on October 9 met with former Nepal Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, former General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), at the JCP head office in Tokyo.

They exchanged views on mutual cooperation on such pressing issues as the need to start negotiations for a nuclear weapons convention (NWC) at the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) assembly scheduled for November.

Along with recent political developments in Japan and in Nepal, they also talked about the current movement in Japan calling for the shutdown of all nuclear power plants and for shifting to renewable energy as well as the issue of climate change affecting Nepal.

JCP Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo and Ambassador of Nepal to Japan Madan Kumar Bhattarai were also present at this meeting.

Ogata meets ex-Indian ambassador to Japan
JCP Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on October 9 met with former Indian Ambassador to Japan Aftab Seth and his wife in Tokyo.

Ogata and Seth talked about the 2002 visit of JCP Chair Shii to India and exchanged views on the present Asian situation and the political climate in Japan and India.

Shii sends congratulations to Chavez
JCP Chair Shii Kazuo on October 12 sent a congratulatory message to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on his re-election.

Shii in his message said that the election result indicates public trust in the Chavez policy putting emphasis on public interests and opposing neo-liberalism.

Shii expressed his hope for the Venezuelan government to continue its success in its endeavors to expand the people first policies.

Ogata attends Spanish National Day reception
JCP Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on October 15 attended a Spanish National Day reception hosted by Ambassador to Japan Miguel Angel Navarro at his residence in Tokyo.

Ogata offered his congratulations to the ambassador and had friendly exchanges with other guests.
