Shii meets with CPV high official

August 3, 2013
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on August 2 met with To Huy Rua, a politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the president of the Vietnam-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Association, at the JCP headquarters in Tokyo.

Rua conveyed to Shii CPV Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong’s congratulations on the JCP’s advance in the July Upper House election, and said that he hopes the JCP will gain even more seats in the next election.

Regarding CPV’s Doi Moi policy which seeks to work for socialism through a market economy, Rua said, “It is important for us to have a good relationship with the JCP which is active though in a developed capitalist country.”

Shii expressed his gratitude for Trong’s congratulations and said that he hopes that the relationship between the two parties will further develop in various fields, including the peace movement for the abolition of nuclear weapons. He added that he hopes the Doi Moi policy will advance while properly addressing the negative effects of capitalism.
