Okinawans protest against Osprey flight drills at Takae helipads

Okinawans held a rally in front of the main gate of the USMC Northern Training Area in protest against the U.S. military's Osprey flight drills at helipads in the Takae district in Higashi Village. The U.S. forces on July 11 began conducting Osprey flight training exercises which use newly-established helipads in Takae. A member of the anti-helipad residents' group pointed out that Ospreys fly over residential areas until late at night almost every day and said, "the U.S. forces disregards the residents' human rights." The participants resolved to work even harder to win the removal of the military training field.
