Countdown to voting in Henoko referendum starts in Okinawa

Official campaigning began on Februray 14 in Okinawa for a prefectural referendum over the landfill work for the construction of a U.S. base in Nago's Henoko. The voting will be held on Februray 24 and eligible voters will be asked to make a choice among three alternatives: "agree", "disagree", and "neither".
On the first day of the referendum campaigning, in Naha City, activists of the anti-base "All Okinawa" movement, including Japanese Communist Party lawmakers at the national and prefectural levels, gathered near the prefectural government office building and resolved to work hard to increase the voice of opposition in the referendum.(Feb.14/2019, Okinawa)
