Fuwa visits Vietnam Festival

Fuwa Tetsuzo, Japanese Communist Party Central Committee chair, on April 7 visited the 2001 Vietnam Festival held in Yoyogi Park in Tokyo on the invitation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.

Fuwa greeted Vu Dung, Vietnamese ambassador to Japan, and presented him with a signed copy of the JCP booklet, "JCP Visits Southeast Asia." Fuwa, who has been to Vietnam five times since 1966, chatted with the ambassador over photos in the booklet.

With a variety of handicrafts and foods displayed in stands, the festival attracted many Japanese visitors interested in Vietnam's culture and everyday life. The festival, the first to be held in Japan, was sponsored by the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, supported by Japan's Foreign Ministry and the ASEAN-Japan Center.
