JCP chair proposes job security measures
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo has made a three-point proposal for job creation, which is one of the major House of Councilors election issues.
This was during the Japan National Press Club-organized debate by political party leaders on July 11.
The three points are: elimination of unpaid overtime work; the establishment of a ceiling on overtime work hours; and the establishment of a system which European countries have to cope with youth unemployment.
Shii stressed that a government-affiliated think tank has estimated the number of jobs to be created by getting rid of unpaid overtime work at 900,000. (end)
