Aviation workers unions say military retaliation threatens safe flights
Unions of pilots, flight attendants, ground crew, and air-traffic
controllers on October 9 requested the Japanese Communist Party to help to
secure safety for civil aviation flights.
They are members of the Japan Federation of Civil Aviation Worker's Union
for Air Safety, the Japan Federation of Aviation Workers' Unions, and the
Japan Federation of Flight Crew Unions.
In a meeting with JCP Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi, they said that
at present even the ground crew members are assigned to carry out safety
inspections of the inside of aircraft. They said this extra work is now a
major problem.
They called on the JCP to cooperate with them in urging the government to
implement increased safety measures for domestic airports and civil
aviation.
Ichida said that the prevention of war is essential for ensuring the
safety of civil aviation flights and promised to cooperate with them. (end)
