Constitutional scholars voice concerns over plan to send SDF abroad
Two-hundred thirty-one constitutional scholars issued a statement on
November 14 to express concerns about the government plan to send the
Self-Defense Forces abroad under the recently enacted legislation.
These are members of the Japan Association for Studies of Constitutional
Law, an organization of academics in defense of the Constitution.
In the statement, they expressed regret that the SDF dispatch law and the
revised SDF Law were passed through the Diet without discussion and
requested that constitutional principles be strictly observed. (end)
