Citizens Organizations demand that Diet not approve PKO law revision bill
In protest at the hasty government move to get the bill for adversely
revising the Peace Keeping Operations (PKO) law approved by the House of
Representatives, about 100 representatives of religious and citizens
organizations and trade unions on November 29 made representations to the
Diet.
Three House of Representatives members, including Akamine Seiken of the
Japanese Communist Party, Kaneko Tetsuo of the Social Democratic Party, and
Kawada Etsuko, an independent, made speeches to express solidarity with the
participants.
The organizers of the action were the Christians Network for Peace, Japan
Buddha Sangha, and the group, "No terrorism and retaliation! Citizens Urgent
Action."
The Joint Center against SDF Dispatch, which the National Confederation
of Trade Unions (Zenroren) is taking part, expressed solidarity with the
action. (end)
