JCP will vote for congratulatory message on birth of baby girl of crown
princess
The Japanese Communist Party has said it will not oppose a proposal that
both Houses of parliament adopt their resolutions to express congratulations
on the birth of a baby girl to the wife of Crown Prince and Princess.
At a regular news conference on December 3, JCP Secretariat Head Ichida
Tadayoshi said, "Parliament can give a congratulatory message as a form of
courtesy on a festive event of the family which is referred to as the symbol
of the state by the Constitution. The Japanese Communist Party will agree
with such parliamentary action."
"The JCP envisages a future in which the Tenno (emperor) system will end
based on the people's consensus. At the present, the JCP is committed to
defending every clause of the Constitution," Ichida added. (end)
