Women's organization protests against Tokyo governor's insult

The New Japan Women's Association (Shinfujin) Tokyo Metropolitan
Headquarters President, Kami Nobuko went to the Tokyo Metropolitan
Government Office on Noveber 29 to protest against Governor Ishihara
Shintaro's remarks which insulted women.

Ishihara in an interview published in the November 6 issue of "Weekly
Women" magazine approvingly quoted a Tokyo University professor as saying
that, "The most stupid and harmful things brought by civilization are old
women," and "It's no use that women who have lost their reproductive
abilities still live."

And Ishihara said, "Such civilization will destroy a planet in a flash."

Criticizing Ishihara for not only insulting women but also damaging human
dignity, Kami demanded that the governor be informed of the strong protest
by women's organization. (end)
