JCP Fuwa's lecture on 'Capital' starts
A series of lectures on "Capital" by Japanese Communist Party Chair Fuwa Tetsuzo started on January 21 at the JCP head office. About 300 JCP full-time workers of the office, including Dietmembers and elected party officials, attended his first lecture. The lectures will be held twice a month and last almost a year.
Saying that this is his first lecture on "Capital," Fuwa explained the reason why he took up Capital. He said:
"'Capital' contributed to the analysis of the movement of the capitalist economic system. In other words, it is a book on the economy relevant to the contemporary world. Also, it gave details on Marx's view of historical materialism and dialectics, and fully developed his argument concerning socialism."
It could be said that Marx's "scientific view" is condensed in "Capital," Fuwa said.
Other points of his lecture on the day were: impressions of his encounter with "Capital"; how Marx prepared the work: how (the manuscripts of) the book have been preserved; the difference between "Capital" and classical economic theories; and how "Capital" should be read and studied. (end)
