JCP demands parliament summon LDP Kato as witness
The Japanese Communist Party in the House of Representatives demanded that parliament subpoena Kato Koichi, former Liberal Democratic Party secretary general, to find out whether he exercised his political influence on bidding for public works projects.
Yamaguchi Tomio made this request on behalf of the JCP during his question time in the House of Representatives plenary session on January 22.
He also demanded that a former private secretary to Kato and a former secretary to Kano Michihiko, Democratic Party of Japan vice president, be summoned as witnesses. (end)
