JCP May Day slogans published

On the occasion of the 73rd May Day celebrations, the Japanese Communist Party published the following slogans in the April 22 issue of daily Akahata:

-- Stop war laws that will force the whole nation into cooperating with U.S. wars! Let's join forces throughout the country to defeat the legislation!

Oppose the overseas dispatch of the Self-Defense forces and the adverse revision of the Constitution. Let's defend Article 9 of the Constitution and other provisions for peace and democracy!

Break away from the Japan-U.S. military alliance and build a peaceful and neutral Japan!

-- Stop unlawful and unjust corporate restructuring! Let's develop the struggle to protect jobs and regional economies and demand that large corporations take social responsibility!

Block the adverse revision of the medical insurance system that will totally destroy medical care and take steps to improve social security services for the protection of life and health!

Stop using "state secret funds" as political funds for party politics. The Koizumi Cabinet must reveal all the facts of their misuse.

Ban corporate donations to root out graft and collusive ties between politicians, bureaucrats, and business circles.

-- Israel must withdraw troops from the Palestinian self-rule areas. Israel and Palestine should recognize each other's right to exist as states to help establish peace in the Middle East.

Oppose U.S. wars that go against the international order. Let's stop any moves to further expand the lawless wars!

Achieve a world free of nuclear weapons in the 21st century.

-- The Koizumi Cabinet has revealed its true colors. Let's break with LDP politics and establish true democracy that supports better livelihoods and peace.

Join with the JCP, which has defended the principle that "people are the key players," and build a new Japan in the 21st century. (end)
