JCP Ichida meets with counselor of Chinese embassy
Qiu Guohong, counselor of the Chinese embassy in Japan, on May 14 visited Ichida Tadayoshi, the Japanese Communist Party Secretariat head, in the Diet building to explain the Chinese government's findings on the May 8 incident at the Japanese Consulate General in Shenyang, China.
Qiu denied the findings of the Japanese Foreign Ministery and insisted that the Chinese police entered the compound to seize five people with the permission of the Japanese consulate. He emphasized that the incident should be resolved as soon as possible in order to prevent the Japan-China relationship from worsening.
Ichida stated that the Diet should play an important role in determining the facts based on information from Foreign Ministry officials and other people concerned. (end)
