JCP Ichida meets with non-nuclear government officials in Nagasaki

Ichida said that Hussain's participation in the 2002 World Conference and a message sent to the Conference from Prime Minister Mahathir bin Mohamad will help increase cooperation between governments and NGOs in the anti-nuclear weapons campaign and world's peace movements.
Ichida expressed his appreciation for the that Non-aligned movement which has has greatly contributed to the world efforts to get rid of nuclear weapons.
Hussain informed Ichida that Malaysia will chair the next Non-Aligned Summit, and said Malaysia will play a more important role toward the abolition of nuclear weapons.
Egyptian assistant foreign minister
Ichida Tadayoshi, Japanese Communist Party Secretariat head, met with Assistant Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mahmoud Mubarak in Nagasaki on August 9, and expressed gratitude for Mubarak's participation in the 2002 World Conference against A and H Bombs.
Ichida and Mubarak confirmed the importance of cooperation between governments and NGOs in the effort to eliminate nuclear weapons.
Ichida appreciated Egyptian efforts to abolish nuclear weapons as a member nation of the New Agenda Coalition, then Mubarak replied Egypt will further strengthen its efforts.
Ichida also met with Malaysian Disarmament Ambassador Rajmah Hussain, who was visiting Japan to attend the 2002 World Conference against A and H Bombs. They agreed on the importance of making the damage and aftereffects of radiation known to the world. (end)
