Kitty Hawk sailors arrested
A U.S. Aircraft Carrier Kitty crew member was arrested on August 11 on suspicion of burglary resulting in injury in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Police say that the suspect, a 23-year-old U.S. Navy seaman named Christopher Downs, jumped from the top of a 4-story apartment building onto a balcony to break into a room in Yokosuka City. Shouting "Money, money," the suspect allegedly battered a 68-year old man in the room. The man's injuries will take four weeks to heal.
On August 13 another Kitty Hawk crew member was arrested for stealing a luxury car.
The 19 year-old navy on the 12th stole the car from a female driver by threatening her with what looked like a gun on a street of Fujisawa City. He was arrested in the neighboring city of Kamakura an hour and half later. (end)
