JCP International Bureau director meets with Egyptian ambassador
Ogata Yasuo, Japanese Communist Party International Bureau director and member of the House of Councilors, on September 26 visited Egyptian Ambassador to Japan Mahmoud Karem at the Egyptian Embassy in Tokyo.
Referring to the participation by Egyptian Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Relations Mahmoud Mubarak in the 2002 World Conference against A & H Bombs, Ogata extended his gratitude to the Ambassador for his cooperation with the conference.
Karem told Ogata that he has been working for disarmament as a diplomat and that he hopes to have an opportunity someday to visit the A-bombed cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Ogata and Karem exchanged views about the Japanese political situation and the issue of Middle East peace and security, in particular the tense situation concerning Iraq. (end)
