North Korea must immediately retract nuclear development plan: JCP Shii
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo criticized North Korea for its policy of resuming the operation of nuclear facilities. He was speaking at a JCP Dietmembers general meeting in the Diet Building on December 13, the final day of the extraordinary Diet session. Shii stated as follows:
"The core of the matter is that North Korea has a plan to resume nuclear weapons development plan, which was released on October 16.
"Recent announcements and actions by North Korea violate the Japan-North Korea Pyongyang Declaration, which confirmed that, for an overall resolution of the nuclear issues on the Korean Peninsula, both governments would 'comply with all related international agreements.' North Korea must correct the critical mistake of its own.
"Also, the Japanese government of the only A-bombed country should take principled attitude on these matters in dealing with bilateral negotiations with North Korea." (end)
