Shii meets with India's foreign ministry official
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on December 17 held talks with Digvijay Singh, minister of state in the Ministry of External Affairs of India, at India's foreign ministry office in New Delhi.
Shii explained that the JCP delegation was visiting India to exchange views with the Indian government, which has an important role in the non-aligned movement.
On the Iraq issue, Singh expressed strong opposition to the possible use of force against Iraq in violation of its sovereignty and called for a peaceful solution to the Iraq question following United Nations initiatives.
Singh argued that every country has the right to choose its leader on its own, and stated that such an idea is based on the traditional foreign policy of India as a non-aligned nation. (end)
