JCP candidate for Tokyo governor announces campaign pledge
Wakabayashi Yoshiharu, who is the Japanese Communist Party candidate for Tokyo governor, on March 10 announced his 3-pillar campaign pledge for the Tokyo gubernatorial election that will be announced on March 27, with April 13 as the voting day.
His public promises focus on defending the Constitution, peace, people's livelihoods, and welfare services as follows:
1. The administration's policy will focus on welfare, people's living conditions, and promotion of small-and-medium sized businesses.
2. End large development projects and make efforts to pursue better quality of the environment, education, culture, and local communities.
3. Establish a peaceful and autonomous Tokyo by actively utilizing the Constitution and send people's peace messages in Japan and abroad.
Wakabayashi at a news conference in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government office said, "The election will give a judgment to Governor Ishihara Shintaro's past 4-year administration." Regarding Ishihara's remark, "I don't approve of the Constitution," Wakabayashi said, "Ishihara is unqualified to continue as the Tokyo governor. I want to see voters pass judgment on him."
"I run for the election with the JCP official ticket, but what the people will choose is public pledges. I believe my official vows can be supported by many people," said Wakabayashi.
He expressed his determination to broadcast his policy pledge to as many people as possible. (end)
