Nuclear-free 'Kobe Formula' marks 28th anniversary
In Kobe, about 200 people attended an assembly on March 18 to mark the 28th anniversary of the "Non-Nuclear Kobe Formula" which has prevented foreign nuclear vessels from entering Kobe Port, and pledged to increase the struggle to stop the war.
Addressing the assembly, Kajimoto Shushi, secretary of the Hyogo Council against A & H Bombs, stated that the "Non-Nuclear Kobe Formula" shows the path that Japan should take in the 21st century. He called on participants to work together to create a nuclear-free country.
Niihara Shoji, analyst of international affairs, lectured on the international significance of the nuclear-free port formula.
The "Kobe Formula" requires foreign ships entering Kobe Port to submit a certificate proving that they do not carry nuclear weapons. (end)
