More on Soka Gakkai, war, and peace -- Akahata 'Current' column, April 24

A recent Komei Party handbill said, "Everyone is opposed to war. The JCP is seeking to take advantage of the Iraq war in its election campaign."

Isn't this strange? Everyone knows that Komei Party leader Kanzaki Takenori supported the U.S. war on Iraq, saying, "The U.S. action merits support in legal terms. Komei Party Secretary General Fuyushiba Tetsuzo slandered the calls for a peaceful resolution as acting "to the enemy's benefit."

The Komei Party approves of the war which "everyone is opposed to". Covering up its pro-war position by saying, "Everyone is opposed to war," the Komei Party criticizes the Japanese Communist Party for joining the "everyone" to oppose the war.
Buddha teaches that those who commit sins while reproaching good people will go to hell. The Komei Party seems to have forgotten this teaching. It's deceiving voters. This is how the Komei Party is propping up the pro-war Koizumi government and the Liberal Democratic Party.

What about the Komei Party's effort to prop up the North Korean regime? In 1972, a Komei Party delegation visiting North Korea was "deeply impressed" by North Korea under the influence of the then Premier Kim Il Sung's thought, and expressed congratulations on the country's "social progress." This was seen in sharp contrast with the JCP, which was already critical of North Korea's personality cult and ambitions.

In the late 1970s, North Korea's abduction of Japanese nationals began. Doesn't the Komei Party have a sense of guilt about its act to prop up the lawless regime? (end)
