Japan Peace Committee urges SDF to eliminate cluster bombs
The Japan Peace Committee on April 25 demanded that the Self-Defense Forces release information concerning the cluster bombs they possess and eliminate such weapons.
Chisaka Jun, secretary-general of the Japan Peace Committee, visited the Defense Agency and pointed out that cluster bombs used by the U.S.-British forces in Iraq have caused many civilian casualties, including children. He criticized the SDF for possessing and deploying such inhumane weapons without making the fact known to the public.
A DA official said that the SDF is not considering eliminating cluster bombs since they are not considered inhumane weapons. (end)
