JCP's May Day slogans published
The Japanese Communist Party published its May Day slogans in the April 29 issue of Akahata:
- No U.S. occupation and rule of Iraq!
Let the Iraqi people rebuild their own country and let the United Nations assist in reconstructing Iraq!
The international community will not condone wars of aggression and a preemptive attack strategy!
Let us join forces throughout the world to restore peace and order in the world based on the United Nations Charter!
- The Koizumi Cabinet, which supports the U.S. war policy and damages Japanese people's livelihoods and the nation's economy, is not qualified to remain in power.
Increase the new current of local politics in which residents are the key players!
Let us aim for establishing a democratic government which will defend peace, personal livelihoods, and democracy!
- The contingency legislation is designed to establish a setup to mobilize the people for U.S. wars in disregard of public safety. Let us scrap the unconstitutional bills which will mobilize the Self-Defense Forces and the people for wars!
No adverse revision of the Constitution! Let us defend the war-renouncing Article 9 of the Constitution! Block an adverse revision of the Fundamental Law of Education!
Abolish the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty and establish a peaceful and neutral Japan!
Ban the use of nuclear weapons and abolish them now!
Prohibit all weapons of mass destruction!
- Stop unlawful corporate restructuring and establish rules for the workplace! Eliminate unpaid overtime work! No adverse labor law changes that will deny the right to work! Raise wages and end wage disparity between men and women! Let large corporations fulfill their social responsibility for full employment!
- Bring down the 30 percent sharing of medical costs on insured patient to the former 20 percent! No 4-trillion yen tax increase! Improve social services!
Stop the plan for a large-scale consumption tax rate increase! Abolish the consumption tax!
Let us protect small- and medium-sized businesses and family farmers! Establish a system of food safety!
Stop destructive development and preserve nature and greenery!
Reconstruct the Japanese economy while supporting people's livelihoods and local businesses!
- Let us hew out a new path of the 21st century with the cooperation of forces of the world that wish for peace and social progress! Let us create a world where different cultures with different values will be able to coexist! (end)
