Fuwa's book on 'history textbook' issue published in China
Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Fuwa Tetsuzo's critique of the controversial pro-war history textbook has been published in China.
Beijing's Shijie Zhishi Chubanshe (World Knowledge Publishers) published the Chinese edition of Fuwa's "History Textbook and Japanese War" originally published in January 2002 by Tokyo's Shogakukan Inc. The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences translated it into Chinese.
In this book Fuwa presents an exhaustive examination of the rightists' "New History Textbook" descriptions of Japan's aggression, including the annexation of Korea and the Nanking (Nanjing) Massacre, and sets forth an analysis of the war.
Akahata of May 10 said, "Given that the question of Japan's past war of aggression remains a major political issue even half a century after the war's end, the publication in China of this book, which throws light on the truth of the era of Japan's war of aggression, is very significant." (end)
