7,000 protest against wartime bills

About 7,000 workers, students, women, and people of faith on May 20 took part in a rally in Osaka City demanding the withdrawal of the contingency bills.

The rally was jointly organized by 14 transport-related workers' unions, including the All Japan Seamen's Union, the All Japan Federation of Transport Workers' Unions, the All Japan Dockworkers' Union, and the Japan Federation of Aviation Workers' Unions.

A lawyer, a newspaper company worker, a young Korean resident, and a religious group member publicly expressed their determination to foil the wartime legislation.

After the rally, the participants marched in demonstration holding colorful banners and placards. (end)
