Former war captives in Siberia demand back pay
Former Japanese war captives in Siberia on May 29 staged a sit-in in front of a Lower House members office building that the government pay them unpaid wages for their forced labor.
The protesters are Japanese WWII veterans who were held in forced labor camps in the former Soviet Union's Siberia following Japan's defeat in the war.
Calling for legislative actions to solve the post-war issue, the protesters also demanded the withdrawal of the wartime bills.
Japanese Communist Party Dietmembers spoke in solidarity. (end)
