JCP Ichida lectures to young people in Kyoto
Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi on July 14 gave a lecture on "the world and Japan in the 21st century" to about 200 young people and answered their questions in Kyoto City.
Ichida's lecture was part of a lecture series on the "scientific view" organized by Kyoto's JCP and Democratic Youth League for young Kyoto residents.
Ichida's topics included unemployment and working conditions of young people, world peace, and the type of society the JCP is aiming for. He called on the participants to have a clear vision in the turbulent era and to work for peace and progress in society.
In answer to a question on the U.S. war on Iraq, Ichida said that it shows the true nature of U.S. imperialism which pushes U.S. values on the rest of the world. However, such a tyrannical act won't last that long, he stressed.
Asked about Japan's expensive tuition rates, Ichida stated, "Politics must fulfill its duty to establish an environment in which students can study without having to worry about money. By cutting expenditures on large public projects or arms buildups, the government could support people who want to receive education." (end)
