Shii explains JCP Program revision to Japan National Press Club
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo was invited by the Japan National Press Club on July 14 to lecture on the draft of the revised JCP Program which will be adopted at the JCP 23rd Congress in November.
It has been the first time for Shii to speak at the Club since he became the JCP Chair. He also answered a number of questions.
Explaining the three main points of the draft of the revised JCP Program, Shii stated that the revision is intended to make the theory of a democratic revolution realistic and rational, envisage a future society, and present a positive world outlook for the 21st century.
The JCP Chair gave a detailed explanation of several points of the proposed revision, which build on the political developments and the development of the JCP's theoretical activities over the last 42 years since the present program was adopted in 1961.
In answer to a question on the JCP's relationship with business circles, Shii stated that corporations' fulfillment of their social responsibilities will help develop Japan's economy. He said, "Although the JCP's position differs from theirs, it is useful to talk with business leaders and deepen our mutual understanding." (end)
