On August 7, Kasai Akira, Japanese Communist Party International Bureau Vice-director, spoke on the consequences of the Iraq war at the 17th Asia Pacific Roundtable in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Kasai referred to the significant role of the overwhelming majority of world's governments, citizens, the United Nations, and non-aligned countries standing firm against the U.S.-British led Iraq War. He said that the international community found no justifiable reason for the United States to launch the war and that the U.S. has become isolated accordingly. It is important for the world to defend the international order based on the U.N. Charter, he added.
About 200 researchers, politicians, and government officials from all over the world attended the roundtable co-sponsored by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies, Malaysia (ISIS Malaysia) and the ASEAN Institute of Strategic and International Studies. (end)
