World wants war-renouncing Article 9 defended: JCP Yamaguchi
At a House of Representatives Constitution Research Commission meeting on October 2, Japanese Communist Party representative Yamaguchi Tomio stated, "The world wants Japan to protect Article 9 of the Constitution."
He was referring to experiences he had during a tour of the United States and Mexico as a member of the parliamentary commission delegation in early September.
At a meeting with students at the University of California, Berkeley, Yamaguchi explained how important it is to defend the war-renouncing Article 9 of Japan's Constitution for world peace and stability.
The JCP Dietmember added that his remarks had impressed many student participants, who had came up to him after the lecture and asked him to defend Article 9. "It was a precious experience for me to understand what Asia and the rest of the world want," Yamaguchi said. (end)
