Yeu was in Japan on a legislative tour explaining a drastic reform of Vietnam's National Assembly.
Congratulating Ichida on the recent JCP 23rd Congress, Yeu said that he was pleased with the continuing development of close relations between the JCP and the CPV over several decades. He stressed that the Vietnamese people will never forget the support the JCP extended to the Vietnamese people's national liberation struggle, in particular when they were experiencing great difficulties.
Ichida said that the JCP hopes that bilateral relations will develop further.
Referring to the characteristics of the Japanese legislative system, Ichida said that most government bills are designed to serve the interests of major corporations at a cost to the public.
Ichida also said that the JCP has developed its Diet activities by making proposals to defend living conditions and public rights based on research and public opinion. The JCP bill on measures to deal with bird flu epidemic was one such example.
Ichida also said that the JCP is very interested in Vietnam's doi moi policy. Referring to the new party JCP Program, he said that the JCP has formulated a road to socialism through a market economy. (end)
