JCP CC Chair Fuwa meets Hungarian Workers Party President Thurmer
Fuwa Tetsuzo, Japanese Communist Party Central Committee chair, on March 19 held talks for about two hours at the JCP head office with the Hungarian Workers' Party delegation led by HWP President Thurmer Gyula.
The HWP president gave an account of the activities his party has carried out since its founding soon after the collapse of the old regime 15 years ago.
Fuwa explained how the JCP has developed its activities since it resolved the problem that had led the party to a split.
Referring to the recent revision of the JCP Program, Fuwa said that the JCP had overcome Lenin's interpretation of socialism which focused on the mode of distribution of products. He said that the JCP confirmed that the crux of the theory of future society, which has been developed since Marx, is that socialism must guarantee the all-round development of humankind.
Thurmer thanked Fuwa for the invitation to visit and commented on what he had so far experienced in Japan, including his talks with JCP Executive Committee Chair Shii Kazuo and a tour of Hiroshima and Kyoto. He said that the HWP delegation this time learned a lot about the JCP. "In Hiroshima, I was shocked to learn about the world's first atomic bombing. I think Hungarians should visit Hiroshima," he added.
On March 20, JCP Executive Committee Chair Shii held a dinner in honor of the HWP delegation in Tokyo.
Earlier in the day, the HWP delegation attended an anti-war rally held in Tokyo as part of the International Day of Action to mark the first anniversary of the outbreak of the U.S.-led Iraq War. (end)
