JCP steps up party building
The Japanese Communist Party on March 18 held an exchange gathering at the JCP head office to jump-start the effort to increase the Akahata readership by 30 percent and build a 500,000-strong party for a major JCP advance in the Upper House election.
The gathering was attended by 196 JCP activists, including secretaries of JCP prefectural committees, representatives from JCP district committees and branches, JCP assembly members, and JCP candidates. More than 4,000 people simultaneously watched the proceedings of the gathering at local JCP offices via the communication satellite broadcast.
A representative of a JCP branch at an insurance company in Osaka said that his workplace was in a desperate condition in which anyone could die at anytime from overwork and that his branch repeatedly asked, "if the JCP ducks its head, will there be a decent future for workers and companies?" His branch then resolved to set a higher goal and work harder to increase new membership, he said.
In the concluding remarks, JCP Chair Shii Kazuo characterized the gathering as a cheerful occasion that gives the whole party energy and vividly reflects each locality's activities to progress. He called on the participants to learn from each experience in the effort to be victorious in the Upper House election and expand the party membership. "Let's bear fruit from the results of this gathering to achieve a great leap in our activities and win in the election!", he said. (end)
