JCP Ogata discusses Middle Eastern questions with Egyptian ambassador

Japanese Communist Party House of Councilors member Ogata Yasuo on April 21 met with Egyptian Ambassador Hisham Mohamed Moustafa Badr at the Egyptian embassy in Tokyo.

Badr thanked the JCP representative for sending him the English translation of JCP statements concerning the recent hostage taking incidents in Iraq involving Japanese civilians. Ogata, who is also JCP International Bureau director, expressed his appreciation for the ambassador's efforts to rescue the hostages.

They exchanged their opinions on the increasingly tense situation in the Middle East, in particular with regard to Iraq and the Palestinian question. (end)
