Business circles are set to propose revision of the Constitution
The Japan Business Federation (JBF) is planning to establish a committee to discuss and propose the revision of the Constitution.
At a news conference on April 26, JBF Chair Okuda Hiroshi said that the JBF at its annual meeting in May will decide on establishing a committee on constitutional revision with the aim of compiling JBF proposals concerning the Constitution.
Successive JBF chairs have expressed views on constitutional revision, but the JBF as a business organization has never presented its recommendations on the matter to the government because of differences within the federation.
The Japan Association of Corporate Executives has already issued a statement requesting that the government revise the Constitution. The Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry is also planning to make a call for the Constitution to be revised. (end)
