Komei executives also failed to pay pension premiums

The Komei Party on May 12 announced that 13 Komei Dietmembers, including its president and secretary general, had failed to pay national pension premiums for a certain period of time.

Komei President Kanzaki Takenori is the second political party leader after Kan Naoto, former head of the Democratic Party of Japan, to have failed to pay the National Pension insurance premium. Kan has already resigned as the DPJ leader.

Japanese Communist Party Diet Policy Committee Chair Kokuta Keiji on the same day said, "The Komei Party is one of the ruling parties that have bulldozed the pension cut bill through the Lower House. It should bear grave responsibility for such negligence."

Kokuta criticized the Komei Party for taking such an underhanded step as to announce the non-payments of pension premiums after railroading the pension cut bill through the House of Representatives.

The JCP will exert itself to block the pension cut bill from passing in the Upper House, Kokuta stated. (end)
