20,000 people listen to Fuwa's call for major JCP advance

"The key players are not big corporations or the United States but the people. The people can change the politics if they raise their voices," proclaimed Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Fuwa Tetsuzo in a speech on July 2 in front of a terminal station in Tokyo.

About 20,000 people filled the sidewalks near Shinjuku Station to listen to Fuwa calling for support for the JCP in the July 11 House of Councilors election.

Fuwa said, "An opposition party that shares the favorable view of the major corporations and the United States with the Liberal Democratic Party cannot achieve its stated objective of 'a change of the government'," and stressed that a major JCP advance in this election will lead to the creation of a Diet that will work in the interest of the people.
