 JCP Shii receives CPV politbureau member Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo received Tran Dinh Hoan, Communist Party of Vietnam Politbureau member and Organization Committee chair on August 2 at the JCP head office. Tran was visiting Japan as the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians League chair. Explaining recent political developments in Japan, Shii spoke about the dangerous moves toward establishing a "two-party" system and the issue of constitutional revision, especially of Article 9. Tran Dinh Hoan explained the Vietnamese political and economic situation and the preparations for the CPV 10th Congress in 2006. While acknowledging their common position in opposition to the Iraq War and on other issues, both confirmed the need to make further efforts to increase friendly relations between the two parties.
