JCP congratulates Hugo Chavez Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Fuwa Tetsuzo and Executive Committee Chair Shii Kazuo on August 20 sent a message to President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Chavez through the Venezuelan Embassy in Tokyo to express congratulations on winning a vote of confidence. The full text of the message is as follows: We are very happy to know that President Hugo Chavez Frias won a vote of confidence of a majority of the people in a national referendum. The vote has shown the firm will of the Venezuelan public for "not permitting a reversal of history." Having read a book of your speeches, "The Venezuelan Revolution", which Venezuelan Ambassador to Japan Carlos Bivero gave us in January this year, we truly felt the strong enthusiasm expressed in the struggle to defend national independence and the well-being of the Venezuelan people. We'd like to extend our sincere congratulations to you on your recent success in achieving a new, great victory for the cause of progressive social change in Venezuela, following your success in the struggles against the coup related to petroleum interests. We wish you success in your continuing efforts since 1998 to construct an independent, sovereign Venezuela by overcoming various interventions and difficulties with the strength of popular support.
