JCP Fuwa receives Malawian Ambassador

Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Fuwa Tetsuzo on September 30 received James John Chikago, the Republic of Malawi ambassador to Japan, at the JCP central office.

The ambassador stated that he had been wanting to visit the JCP office since he read Fuwa's two books, "Remaking Japan" and "Lenin's 'State and Revolution': A Critical Approach", both published by Japan Press Service. He said that what Fuwa stressed in these books were helpful in establishing a parliamentary democracy, he added.

Chikago explained that he visited the JCP after reporting his impressions on these books to former Malawian President Bakili Muluzi, who heads Malawi's ruling party United Democratic Front.

The ambassador briefed Fuwa on the Malawian situation, and asked Fuwa to brief him on the Japanese Communist Party's views on political reform. Fuwa explained how the JCP is addressing political change in Japan.

Chikago said that what is stated in these books has something in common with Africa and that the books inspired him to make further efforts to realize a people-first politics in Malawi.

Fuwa said, "I also hope that exchanges will further develop between us." (end)
