Gensuikyo requests U.N. member states to make efforts for nuclear-free world

A delegation of the Japan Council against A & H Bombs (Japan Gensuikyo), at the United Nations on October 8, visited the Chinese and Thai permanent missions to the U.N. and called on them to make further efforts to get nuclear weapons abolished.

The Thai Minister, Pravit Chaimongkol, explained to the Gensuikyo delegation how his government, as a nuclear-free and non-aligned country, is making an effort to achieve the elimination of nuclear weapons.

Li Song of the Chinese mission explained that China is in favor of an international treaty for nuclear weapons abolition, and stressed the importance of NGOs' and governments' efforts to increase the impact of the anti-nuclear movement. (end)
