2,500 Nagasaki residents hold peace march

In atomic-bombed Nagasaki City on October 30, about 2,500 A-bomb survivors (Hibakusha) and residents participated in a peace march calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons and world peace.

This annual activity has been held in Nagasaki during the U.N. Disarmament Week.
Members of the Nagasaki Council of A-bomb Sufferers took part in the 1.5 km march, holding placards which read, "Let Nagasaki be the last A-bombed city," and "Defend Article 9."

At the Hypocenter Park after the march, the participants offered a silent prayer for the A-bomb victims at 11:02 a.m., the time when the A-bomb was dropped on August 9, 1945. (end)
