Seamen's union holds conference The All Japan Seamen's Union (JSU) at its annual national convention (November 9 - 12) in Tokyo adopted an action plan focusing on defending seamen's living conditions and jobs. The adopted plan stressed the need to strengthen the JSU's role as an industrial union at a time when competition between corporations and corporate reorganization are intensifying under the Koizumi cabinet's policy of promoting deregulation. The JSU also decided to stick to the peaceful principles of the Constitution in order to prevent the implementation of the wartime laws. (end) |
